We all know that time goes by too fast… but sometimes that also means good things - like fast healing and getting back to normal in a year!
Luka broke his femur on June 20th, 2018. PAIN. Spiral fracture. 911 call that turned the shortest night of the year into a year-long adventure. Ambulance ride to Aspen ER, first drugs, decision to go to Denver, fixed wing flight for life to Children’s hospital, more PAIN as they put him in the torture device to straighten his leg, no food or drink, no sleep either, surgery mid-morning on the 21st.
Now healing. 2 months spent on crutches. Playing cards with friends. Long rehab and small successes. First pool day. Slowly back to walking, errr, limping. Soon running and then jumping. Skiing in fewer than 6months again - like nothing ever happened! Full ski racing season with ASK Branik, Maribor, Anda’s home ski club. Subsequent surgery in April to take out the metal - done by Dr. Kristan in Ljubljana hospital. Back on crutches. And back on a bike three days later. Back to full Luka-action in a month. He was ready to hit it full speed before the year was around.
June 20, 2019 we celebrated being healthy with multi-sport day. We are happy that this last year flew by, now time, please slow down again and spare us from big mishaps too soon…
